• 10 Questions to Determine if You’re Well-Dressed

    Q: My buddies frequently mock me about being over-dressed for everything.  Since customs very across regions, as an image consultant, how do you define well-dressed?  When I go out, I like to be well-dressed.


     Group of professionalsA: The factors in determining what to wear are: the event or occasion, how you want to be perceived, and the alignment of your wardrobe selection with the message you want to communicate. Being "well-dressed" is about being well groomed and appropriately dressed from head to toe.


    Here are 10 questions you can answer to determine if you're well dress before heading out the door the next time you want to make a good impression.

    1. Is your hair clean and is your hairstyle well maintained and current?
    2. Is your facial hair groomed? This would include brows, ear and nostril hair, upper lip/mustache and beard.
    3. Ladies, does your make-up naturally enhance your features?
    4. Is the style of your outfit current, appropriate for the occasion and not distracting in any way?
    5. Do your clothes fit well? Not too tight or too baggy.
    6. Are your clothes clean, well maintained, and wrinkle free?
    7. Are hem lengths appropriate and not too short? Spring 2011 styles will be slightly longer.
    8. Ladies, is your neckline 2" above your cleavage?
    9. Are your hands and feet well manicured?
    10. Are your shoes polished and well maintained?

    If you want to be considered "well-dressed," all you have to do is answer yes to these 10 questions.
